The Port of Aegion represents the living history of banana logistics in Greece. Home to the country’s first dedicated reefer terminal with cold storage facilities and specialized handling services, it became the reference point for banana imports in Greece and neighbouring countries for nearly 30 years.
The terminal played a key role in handling reefer vessels carrying bananas from the world’s leading producers. For three decades, it served as a trusted gateway for international brands, including Chiquita and the Great White Fleet, establishing Aegion as one of the most important fresh produce terminals in the region.
